Employment opportunities, well-equipped public schools, improved Medical Centres, motorised water boreholes, good roads, micro-credit loans for agriculture and small scale businesses are among the dividends of good leadership.
Only a selfless leader that truly understands the need of his people will deliver these expectations. Hon Cosmas Ikechukwu Otaba understands the local terrain very well. He has seen poverty ravaging rural dwellers, people dying from lack of medical facilities. He knows the horrendous life in rural communities where peasant farmers toil year after year for survival. He shares the plight of indigent pupils whose stay in schools are threatened for lack of support.
To several families in Igbo Ano, Hon Otaba is a shoulder to cry on. He always gives a listening ear and goes out if the way to lend a helping hand.
His appointment as the Administrator of Igbo Ano Development Centre was described as the best thing that happened to the area. On assumption of office, he inherited a Secretariat that was long abandoned and overgrown by bushes. He rolled up his sleeves and went to work.
Former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani created development centres for grassroots development. Igbo Ano Development Centre has operated its Secretariat from a rented bungalow in Nimbo Community. That has been the situation ever since.
As a selfless leader who places public interest above self, Hon Otaba took up the task of completing the abandoned Secretariat Complex at a huge financial cost. His personal money has gone into this gigantic project.
He does the job quietly without trumpeting his good work. Rather, he gives all the glory to his boss, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. His loyalty to Gburugburu is exemplary.
The people of Igbo Ano trusts Hon Otaba. They found him worthy to be entrusted with fund. The support he enjoys among the people is so overwhelming. As a successful entrepreneur who built a thriving business before his adventure in politics, he believes that money can only serve a good purpose when used for public good.
He defines governance as service to the peoole. He sees every political office as an opportunity to serve others.
The people of Uzo-Uwani know that Otaba will utilize public fund judiciously to uplift Uzo-Uwani/Igbo-Etiti Federal Constituency and make the area a model in the south east geopolitical zones.
His close associates have testified of his admirable philosophy. He believes in the immortal words of John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what America will do for you, but what you will do for America”. By placing service above personal gain, Otaba enjoys a large followership in Uzo- Uwani.
The people of Uzo-Uwani/ Igbo-Etiti Federal Constituency have a choice to make in 2023. Would they maintain the statusquo and remain in Egypt, where they suffer perpetually in the hands of oppressors? Or will they summon courage and walk through the Red Sea with Moses to the Promised Land?
With Otaba as candidate, he will lead our people to the Promised Land. His candidature will herald a new dawn. He has no political baggage or yoked with any encumbrances that will hinder his performance.
