Despite recent threats from the Labour Party to rock the politcial boat in Enugu State, the ruling PDP is not ready to let go.
The PDP has ruled Enugu State since the inception of the current democracy in 1999, and has become strongly rooted.
The Obident movement, and decision of some PDP bigwigs to jump ship and flag the Labour Party flag is posing a threat, but the PDP appears set to withstand the pressure.
Thus, the appointment of a former guber aspirant and former State PDP Chairman Chief Ikeji Asogwa has been seen as a bold statement by the PDP ahead the campaigns.
Dr Peter Mbah has named Chief Ikeje Asogwa as the Director General of his campaign organization.
Mbah in a statement issued by the Head, Peter Mbah Media Office said that Asogwa will coordinate, oversee and drive all aspects of the PDP electioneering for the 2023 governorship election in the state. The statement read in parts:
“I’m happy to announce Chief Ikeje Asogwa as the Director General of the Peter Mbah Campaign Organization.
“Chief Asogwa brings on board a wealth of experience as a former Chairman of our great party in Enugu State. He will energize the campaign with his characteristic charisma, ebullience, grasp of politics and mastery of political strategy and effective communications.
“As the Director General, he will coordinate, oversee and drive all aspects of the PDP electioneering for the resounding victory of our party in the 2023 governorship election in the state.”
The statement added that other appointments will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
