Former Commissioner for Information and chairmanship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State for the September 21, 2024 local government election in the state, Aka Eze Aka has promised to run transformative governance reforms when elected into office.
Aka said that his administration would foster economic growth especially in the critical areas like tourism and agriculture.
The Ace broadcaster made the pledge while unveiling his manifesto titled, “Building a Peaceful and Secured, Prosperous Udenu Local Government Area” during a campaign media visit to voice fm radio Nigeria Nsukka.
The PDP candidate who was accompanied to the radio station by the Director of his Media Team, Jude Eze and the secretary Udenu Stakeholders’ Forum, Onyekachi Ugwu, said his leadership of the local government will be anchored on the principles of transparency, accountability, and rule of law.
He added that he is impressed with the broad based administration of the Enugu state Governor, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah who has been silently implementing his development strategies in the state.
According to him, Governor Peter Mbah’s slogan of “Tomorrow is Here” is manifesting in the state with human capacity building and rapid infrastructural development, adding “that is why my slogan is “In Touch with Tomorrow”.
“If I’m elected as the chairman of Udenu local government area, we will engage in initiatives that will accelerate development especially in tourism, agriculture, security, education, employment generation, peace and security, market expansion and modernization, construction and maintenance of rural roads and other public services. The money that comes into the local government will be for development. This is to ensure that dividends of democracy gets to the grassroots”, he said.
While assuring the people that he is going to use his link with the Governor of the state, Peter Mbah as well as connections with people in and outside Nigeria to transform Udenu, Aka urged them to be part of his vision and mission for “a new Udenu local government”, stressing, “Together, we will build a prosperous Udenu that stands as a model of progress and development in Enugu state.
The PDP local government flag- bearer also promised to alleviate the suffering of the indigents in the area, through employing, at two of such persons from each electoral ward to enable them earn a living.
“I am going to be their husband and wife for them to survive. I assure those that decamped from Labour Party to PDP during my campaign tour of the local government that my administration will work in tandem with them to create conducive living environment for a better and prosperous Udenu local government”, he added.
He therefore called on every eligible voter in the local government to come out this Saturday to cast his or her vote for the PDP candidate for a better Udenu.
