Enugu: Awkunanaw Intellectuals endorse Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa’s guber ambition

The Association of graduates of Awkunanaw clan, the Awkunanaw Enlightenment Foundation Inc. AWKLUITE, has endorsed the governorship ambition of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa.

The elite group, “bound together by selfless desire and mutual interest in social, cultural and educational advancement of the clan,” on 19/12/21, organised a reception for Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa at Awkunanaw Civic Centre, Akpasha, Akegbe Ugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

While extolling the virtues and philanthropy of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, the group resolved to identify with, and work for the realisation of, the 2023 governorship ambition of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa.

The leadership of the Association expressed optimism that, come 2023, a son of the soil, the Awkunanaw clan, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, would be elected the governor of Enugu State.

Recall that on 14/08/21, the larger Awkunanaw clan, comprising 21 autonomous communities that span from Nkanu West Local Government Area to Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu state, organised the mother of all receptions for Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, graced by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Traditional rulers of the 21 communities had confered the chieftaincy title of Odalije (philanthropy without boundaries) on Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, and endorsed his ambition for the 2023 Governoship contest.

Responding, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa thanked the leadership and members of the AWKLUITE Association, calling on them to get more united, appreciate the urgency of now on the need for an Awkunanaw man to work with other sections of the state to win the 2023 Enugu governorship race.

The occasion, which also featured the Association’s end of year dinner party, was graced by notable sons and daughters of Awkunanaw clan from all walks of life including their friends from far and near. Chief John Egbo, who is USA Deputy Sheriff, Rtd, and a former Enugu state Commissioner for Transport and Capital Development Authority was the Chairman of the occasion.

Others in attendance included Engr. Emeka Igwe, the leader of AWKULITE group in USA and other parts of the diaspora, Architect Nnaemeka Nnamani, former Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon. Barr. Emeka Okeke, former Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Enugu State, Chief Onyeka Onwe, immediate past Chairman of Enugu Sports Club, Mr. Henrich Okenwa, former Chairman, Nkanu West LGA, Dr. John Nwokeabia, former Enugu state Governorship aspirant, and a host of others.
