A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ebonyi State, Prince Igwe Nkama has predicted that the likes of Senator Obinna Ogba, Hon Laz Ogbe, Hon Livinus Makwe, Hon Odefa Obasi Odefa, Hon Chris Usulor will all return to the People’s Democratic Party before the 2027 general election.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki on the prospects of the Party ahead of the 2027 general election in the State, the PDP Chieftain maintained that those who left the party for the All Progressives Congress APC left because of financial benefits and to restore their dwindling political relevance in the State.
“I can authoritatively tell you that all those who left the PDP for the APC didn’t leave because they love APC as a party, they left because of what they will gain. What and what do they expect to gain, one is political relevance, two is financial benefits which they are already benefiting through contracts.
“There is no way Senator Ogba, Hon Ogbee and Hon Odefa Obasi Odefa alongside the Minister for Works can be in the same political platform and co-exist. They still see Umahi as a political enemy that must be fought and subdued.
“Yes, they might have soft spot for Governor Nwifuru and are enjoying his accommodating spirit but I tell you, 99% of the old members of the original APC members in the State are not comfortable with the preference and respect the State Governor is according to the new entrants.
“Coming to what will play out in 2027 general election, many of them will drum support for the State Governor but they are ambitious politicians. They are interested in returning to power and if they fail to cliche the ticket of APC during the primaries, they will return back to PDP.
“Don’t forget that during a recent interview with journalists at Onueke, the council headquarters of Ezza South during the defection of the PDP former Acting Chairman, a one time member of the House of Representatives, Hon Innocent Ugochima alluded to the fact that majority of those who joined the party recently from the PDP are just in the party for financial benefits.
He stated that there would be a lot of political intrigues and horse trading before the 2027 general election adding that the PDP is closing watching.
There will be a lot of political intrigues before 2027 general election. The intrigues will start from the upcoming APC congresses. The battle is going to be between the old APC members and the New entrants. While the old ones will like to consolidate, the new entrants will be eager to make their presence felt.
The center stage would be in Ebonyi Central and South. While Senator Ogba, Hon Ogbee, Hon Makwe would be eyeing the National Assembly, Odefa Obasi Odefa would also want to try his luck also to the National Assembly.
Should they loss the ticket to the incumbent, they will likely jump the ship and return to PDP or join any other political platform to contest the different political positions.
He maintained that the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi will play a major political role in the 2027 general election adding that anyone underrating the political strength of the Minister is doing that to his own detriment. Ends.
