Less than 24 Hours after announcing the Suspension of 3 Commissioners over absenteeism, the Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved the dismissal from office of 2 other Aides over act of gross misconduct.
The dismissed Aides includes, Mr. Nnannna Nwangele, Special Assistant to the Governor on Airport Security and Mr. Felix Okemini- Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security (Ebonyi North)
In a statement signed by the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike and made available to journalists directed the officers to handover all government properties in their possession to the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, not later than 4pm today March 18, 2025.
The Statement also directed that the sacked officers must not be seen anywhere around Government House or participate in any Government activity.
Reacting to the Sack, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the State and public Affairs analyst, Comrade Chukwuemeka Iteshi commended the State Governor for taking the bold step in ensuring that political office Holders are meant to adhere to rules guilding their offices.
Recall that the Governor had earlier announced the suspension of three Commissioners in his cabinet for absenteeism.
The affected Commissioners includes Solomon Azi, (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu, (Environment) and Ikeuwa Omebe, (Rural Development.
The Commissioners according to Information and State Orientation, Commissioner, Mr. Jude Okpor were suspended for one month for being absent without any permission during the State Executive Council meeting held yesterday, Monday.
Briefing journalists on the outcome of the Executive Council meeting, Mr. Okpor noted that the Governor warned against absenteeism and lackadaisical attitude to work by public servants of the state.
Okpor further said that Gov Nwifuru also directed that the suspended commissioners be relieved of all the privileges attached to their offices within the duration of the suspension.
