EverydayNewsngr.net had before now called the attention of the Enugu state government to the illegality going on at the T-Junction Flyover in the Abakpa Nike Area of the state capital.

Apart from the daylight extortion from motorists running into millions of naira, the thuggery and violence being unleashed on motorists who refused to part with the mandatory N200 has become a source of worry.

Violent clashes and free-for-all fights had severally been witnessed leaving severe injury on innocent road users! one-on-one fights and fisticuffs are are regular occurrence witnessed, yet nothing has been done.

The impending disaster has continued to give eloquent signs but it appears everyone is waiting for the worst to happen.

In our first article on the ‘daylight’ robbery going on at the construction site EverydayNews questioned who was benefitting from the illegal toll. Not even the government or it’s agents have explained the reason for the toll, or acted in the interest of the masses.

The T-Junction Flyover route where construction is currently going on is said to be closed to motorists, but if one pays N200 to N500 the road opens, no matter the time and condition.

Vehicles who refuses to pay, will be turned back except if they are willing to fight or make trouble with the thugs who are always stationed smoking Indian hemp, and ready for fight at all times.

If the extortion is legitimate, Enugu people deserve to know. If it’s illegal Government should also say so and make efforts to end the daylight robbery.

A stitch in time saves nine.
