The Enugu North Local Government Area, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, has launched a two-month free vocational training program titled “Tomorrow is Here,” benefiting over 100 residents.

The program, initiated in partnership with Potter’s Will Foundation, began on June 17, 2025, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

During the launch, Mr. Justin Ekwueme, Special Assistant on New Media, representing Dr. Onoh, highlighted the administration’s commitment to youth and women empowerment through capacity-building initiatives aligned with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s development roadmap.

He praised the governor’s focus on experiential and vocational learning to foster self-reliance and reduce dependency.

“We are proud of the kind of Governor we have in Enugu State. He is not waiting for people to depend on handouts. He is changing lives by making sure people have real skills they can use to make money.”

“He has shown again and again that practical training can change families and reduce suffering. What he is doing with vocational learning is already showing results, and we are happy to support and replicate this vision here in Enugu North Local Government Area.”

Mr. Godsown Onuzulike, President of Potter’s Will Foundation, disclosed that the training would cover over 40 vocational skills, including baking, confectionery, natural beverages, skincare, and household crafts.

The program aims to equip beneficiaries with practical entrepreneurial skills to start their own businesses.

A trainee, Miss Chukwunaeche Chika, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing that the skills acquired would help her become self-reliant and potentially empower her financially upon completion.

“I thank Dr. Onoh for the opportunity to acquire skills at no cost. The training will help me become self-reliant and hope that i will be among those to be empowered upon completion of the programme,”Chika said.

This initiative is seen as a significant step towards reducing unemployment and promoting small-scale enterprises within Enugu North council area.
