Residents of Enugu are becoming skeptical about the use of the POS machine following reports of unauthorized withdrawals by fraudsters.

Several complaints to various Commercial bank’s in the state capital shows that monies are withdrawn from customers accounts without their consent.

Most of these withdrawals have been traced to POS transactions. Monies are alleged to be withdrawn from customers account hours after such customers had done transactions.

Details of the ATM card used in the machine are allegedly manipulated after the customer must have left.

A POS attendant narrated how they came to him with a POS machine. He was asked to use the machine with assurances that he would make so more money. But he turned down the offer.

Millions of naira are believed to have been stolen through the POS machines in recent times putting fear in Enugu residents.

This is coming at a time banks are refusing to give out sufficient cash to customers in the face of the approaching yuletide and New Year Celebrations.

Many had thus relied so much on POS until the recent developments.

The Enugu State Police Command recently raised the alarm of a syndicate that uses fake alert to dupe innocent residents especially traders.

Some of the fraudsters were paraded by the police in Enugu on Thursday.
