There are strong indications that the South-East governor’s are working towards the release of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The arrest of the IPOB leader has worsened the security situation in the zone, which has become a major concern to the Governors.
The Governors and leaders of the South East zone of Nigeria on Tuesday in Enugu, condemned the killings in the region and agreed to join hands with security agencies to stop the killings.
The meeting also condemned the sit-at-home orders, and blamed people in diaspora “who do not feel the pains the people suffer” and resolved that Governors and all people of the South East do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further sit-at-home in the South East and that people are allowed to freely move about in the Zone.
“The issue of Nnamdi Kanu was tactically avoided in the communique but a reliable source told EverydayNewsngr.net that it was contained in Committee reports from Ohaneze on various matters affecting the South East, especially on the issue of security and marginalization of the South East people.
Chairman South East Governor’s Forum, Governor Dave Umahi told newsmen of their resolve to study the reports from Ohaneze for immediate implementation, and engagement with the Federal Government for amicable settlement of all issues agitating the minds of our people, especially the youths.
Part of the issues our source said is that of Nnamdi Kanu which he said the Governors would rather keep close to their chests.
“The meeting agreed to support security agencies to restore peace in the South East, while supporting election in Anambra State
and directed security agencies to ensure a peaceful election in Anambra State come November 6, 202. Umahi said.
“The meeting commended all groups and the clergy for their efforts at interfacing with our youths while mandating our clergy men, Bishops, CAN,Ohaneze and Traditional Rulers to continue to dialogue with
our youths.”
End.
