An attempt by the Enugu Catholic Bishop Callistus Onaga to replace Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka with another priest at the Emene Adoration met stiff resistance from the congregation who attempted to mob the new priest on Sunday.
Mbaka himself announced the resumption of Adoration with Church Service Sunday, but the Adoration faithful who thronged the Emene ground to receive their own Mbaka were shocked with the ‘secret’ to change Mbaka with a new priest.
Mbaka who was given the difficult task of announcing his replacement could hardly finish the announcement than the crowd went wild in protest.
The revolt was soon directed at the new priest identified as one Fr. Anthony Amadi who had to be whisked away as the crowd surged to attack him.
As at the time of this report the priest was still taking refuse at the parish house built and occupied by Fr. Mbaka.
Already the Adorationers have vowed that no other priest would be welcome to the Ministry alleging gang up from certain quarters in the church.
The Mbaka issue has long divided the Enugu Catholic Diocese and a fresh crisis isl currently brewing as the Adorationers threaten violent protests to bring back Mbaka.
