Breaking: Police cordons off burnt Enugu INEC office

The Igboeze North Local Government INEC office which was razed by unknown arsonists have been cordoned off by police.

A police statement signed by the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Daniel Ndukwe said the area has been cordoned-off for preservation and further investigative actions.

He said the State Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc, has ordered the State CID to conduct thorough investigation to establish the cause of the fire outbreak at Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area’s INEC Office, located at Ogrute in Enugu-Ezike community of the LGA.

He noted that the fire which started at about 11pm of 03/06/2022 from the back of the building, was put out by Police Operatives that swiftly mobilized to the scene on receipt of the information, with assistance from personnel of Nsukka Office of Enugu State Fire Service, thereby averting further damages within the vicinity.

While assuring that the Command will do all it can to unravel the cause of the incident and take necessary action, the statement said the CP has enjoined residents of the area to support the Police with credible information and/or intelligence in the ongoing investigation.
