The gas fire which started in Emene Enugu on May 25th has finally stopped on its own.

EverydayNews was amongst the first to break the news of the gas flare which was ignited after borehole drillers struck gas storage underground leading to leakages.

Several efforts from both State and Federal Fire Service, NEMA and other experts brought in to put out the fire had failed until yesterday evening (Tuesday June 14) when the fire quietly went off.

EverydayNews findings however revealed two stories making the rounds on what may have caused the fire to stop.

A version claim that Rev. Fr. Paul Edeh, the Director of Pilgrimage Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Elele, Rivers State had said that the fire would stop.

These group believe that it was the prophecy of the Catholic Priest that came to pass.

Recall that the gas leakage occurred within the premises of Caritas University, Amorji Nike, a school owned by Fr. Edeh himself.

However, there are other speculations that the gas deposit may have been exhausted since gas is no longer coming out to fuel the fire.

Experts have however called on government to take further steps to investigate the real cause of the leakage, the quantity of gas and other findings that will help find a lasting solution to the problem.
