The Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) board has imposed a three-point and three-goal deduction on Plateau United as punishment for allowing their fans to attack the team bus of Enugu Rangers.
Everydaynewsngr had reported that some irate fans of Plateau United on Sunday evening attacked players and coaches of Enugu Rangers after the Flying Antelopes held their football club to a goalless draw on the Match Day 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian Football League.
After evaluation of the petitions and arguments of the two cases, the league management held that Plateau United would be held responsible for failing to control their fans.
The board, therefore, imposed a three-point and three-goal deduction on Plateau United as punishment.
The club also faces a fine totalling N4 million: N2 million for inadequate security and object-throwing incidents and N2 million for failure to control supporters’ behaviour.
The host team will also pay N250,000, each in compensation to the injured match official and Rangers player, Daniel Onyia.
The board also mandated them to cover the repair costs for the Rangers’ damaged bus and other verified losses.
In addition, Plateau United’s next three home games at New Jos Stadium will be held without spectators.
