The third edition of the Boolu Ogbe tournament is set to commence this Sunday, October 11th, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The tournament sponsored by the Bet9ja Foundation, is a grassroots sports competition aims to discover and nurture young talents while promoting healthy sporting activities within the community.

Addressing the press in Enugu, Barr. Emeka Offorah, South East Coordinator of the Bet9ja Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to giving back to their customers and society, as well as fostering sports development in the region.

He highlighted the tournament’s achievements, noting that at least five players have been scouted from previous editions by Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) teams, underscoring its role as a talent pipeline.

The competition features attractive incentives, including N1 million for the winning team, N500,000 for the first runner-up, along with other consolation prizes.

Beyond the monetary rewards, the tournament aims to unite communities and develop local talents. This year, about 20 teams are expected to participate in the tournament, promising an exciting and competitive season.

“Boolu Ogbe is a tournament aimed to haunt for talents and give back to the society. The tournament started few years ago by bet9ja agents in the state but after 2 years, the bet9ja foundation took over the funding and agreed to run it for five years. However, this is the third time bet9ja foundation is financing the tournament.

“We are not looking at what we will gain but as a cooperate responsibility trying to make the society feel happy and contribute to the development of sports in Enugu state,”he said.
