A stakeholder of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Onicha Local government Area, Mr. Pascal Okoro and the Chairman of the Local government, Prince Ikechukwu Ogbofie have disagreed over alleged lopsidedness in the project execution in the local government.

Mr. Okoro who accused the Council Chairman of playing clannish politics stated that local Government system and administration in the state is completely dead.

“The present Onicha LGA chairman is nothing but a clan chairman. He is so obsessed with his clan that he forgot that he is a chairman of a local government area with five clans. There’s absolutely nothing to show that he is a local government chairman of the five clans that make up Onicha LGA.

He said that One hundred units of housing estate was allocated to local government “unfortunately the chairman concentrated all in his Abaomege clan without considering other clans.

“Construction of a Health Center was to be sited in Onicha LGA, same chairman sited it in Abaomege. The same chairman sited the multi- million naira ongoing market plaza in his clan without considering other clans.

“Various local government area chairmen recently distributed fertilizers, seedlings and herbicide to farmers in their various local government areas. It’s quite disheartening that our own local government chairman sent about nine fertilizers to various wards and the rest sent to his Abaomege clan.

“This has been his pattern of leadership since he assumed office. The question now is, is he a clan chairman or the chairman of Onicha LGA?. Is he trying to introduce another pattern of governance that those before him never followed?.

“Is he thinking that stakeholders and the entire Onicha LGA are not watching or following his actions? Is this the way and manner he is projecting the government of Francis Nwifuru?.

“Am seriously worried because if this pattern of governance introduced already by the present chairman is sustained, the essence of governance at the local government level is completely defeated.

He urged the Council Boss to emulate the good gestures of other council chairmen and “correct the lopsided governance he has embarked upon.

But in a swift reaction, Prince Ogbofia debunk the allegation describing it as the handiwork of the opposition party adding that such accusations are misleading, false and calculated attempt to undermine the developmental strides of his administration.

Prince Ogbofia who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the Local Government Area, Mr. Omekanmaya Orogwu said that the council Chairman ensures that project in the local government are evenly distributed.

Mr. Orogwu said that the Council Boss is committed to the development of the Local Government adding that he would not be distracted by the antics of the opposition.

He urged the people to disregard the publication of Mr. Pascal Okoro whom he said is seeking for cheap political relevance in the local government. Ends.
