Kogi State Governor and APC Presidential aspirant Yahaya Bello has reportedly ended a closed door meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari in Aso Rock.

Inside source revealed that the aspirant refused to step down as requested by the President preferring to test his popularity at the polls.

EverydayNews reports that the meetin is coming on the heels of speculations of a possible consensus Candidate ahead today’s APC Presidential primary.

Party Chairman Abdullahi Adamu yesterday announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the President’s choice.

Adamu’s declaration which came after the CWC meeting was criticized and even dismissed by other CWC members that there was no such agreement.

Northern APC Governors quickly rushed to Aso Rock and later issued a statement stating that the President denied the consensus.

The Governors later publshed the list of 5 aspirants it forwarded to the President.

The list included Tinubu, Amechi, Umahi, Osinbajo and Fayemi.

However, the rumour of choice of Lawan has refused to die down with further addition that Tinubu would be his running mate’.

Bello’s meeting with Buhari which ended about 1:15 pm further confirms the efforts towards reaching a consensus.
