Popular Enugu politician Ozor Joel Eke has declared intention to become the next Executive Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area.
Favoured by the existing rotation arrangement in Ezeagu, Eke who unfolded his manifesto at a World Press Conference in Enugu Friday expressed confidence that he will clinch the chairmanship position in the February 24 2024, LGA elections.
Eke told newsmen that he has consulted extensively with major stakeholders before throwing his hat in the ring.
He expressed burning desire to work for his people and make their life more meaningful by providing basic social amenities.
Eke said he would key into Gov. Peter Mbah’s agenda of disruptive, innovative governance.
If given the opportunity to become chairman, he would emulate Mbah’s pragmatic approach to governance instead of clinging to the old order of business as usual where things hardly happen.
Ozor Chinedu pointed out that he would ensure that Ezeagu local government works; ensuring that productivity would be the watchword.
The chairmanship aspirant said that he would encourage the council staff to work by taking care of their welfare. He said he would go as far as providing lunch for workers and rewarding dedicated staff with cash awards.
The chairmanship hopeful promised to lift Ezeagu high in every ramification; such that his people will not crave to move to urban areas by building a radio station to be called, “Ezeagu Igbudu Radio Station.”
He promised to ensure that agriculture thrived in Ezeagu by encouraging farmers “to grow exportable cash spinning products such as Ginger, Garlic and improved Cassava roots.”
“Ezeagu is an agrarian local government with vast fertile land. The local government under my watch will be vigorously train farmers and introduce them to grow exportable cash spinning products such as Ginger, Garlic, improved Cassava roots,etc.”
He would also introduce all season farming or what is referred to as “Dry Season Farming.
He also promised to reduce the index level of poverty in the area by introducing what he called ‘Youthpreneur’ and ‘Womenpreneur,’ a programme meant to train women and youths on skills acquisition after which they are empowered with starter packs.
