Ahead of the conduct of the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency by election, gubernatorial candidate of the Young Democratic Party YPP in Anambra state Sir Paul Chukwuma and his running mate Chief Uzu Ukagbue have lamented the absence of morality in governance contending that for late Justice Azuka and others to have been murdered, questions the moral justification of people being in power.
According to Chukwuma who stormed Onitsha town along his running mate to endorse Princess Njideka Ndigwe candidate of the party for the August 16th by election the regime of Gov Charles Soludo do not have any moral justification to be asking for a second term since according to him could not guarantee the safety of human lives .
“I am in Onitsha today with mixed feelings,” “Today reminds us of the consequences of failed leadership a leadership that is disconnected from the pains of its citizens.
“If we had a responsive government, we might not be gathered here under these circumstances.”
“We lost a fine gentleman and proud son of Onitsha. Worse still, the government has done nothing to ensure that such a tragedy does not repeat itself.”
“If a member of the House could be murdered so carelessly and with such impunity, then no one is safe.”he said.
Chukwuma questioned the moral state of Anambra’s leadership, asking, “Has Anambra State reached a point where life no longer matters to those in power?”
“Vote for Princess Njideka Ndiwe to complete the tenure of her brother. Next Saturday, we must come out en masse to vote for the YPP. She will pick up from where Justice Azuka stopped and lead you to greater heights,” he added.
Princess Njideka Ndiwe, visibly elated by the turnout, welcomed the crowd and declared that the time to get it right had come.
She urged all members of the constituency to actively mobilize support to secure victory at the polls.
“You all know what I have done and what I continue to do for our people. It’s payback time,” “For years, you have asked me to come out and serve. Now I have answered your call. It is in your hands to do the needful ,vote me into the State House of Assembly and enjoy greater services.”she said.
In his own remarks, the Deputy Governor ship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, commended the people of Onitsha North 1 for braving the rain to attend the rally. He urged them to vote overwhelmingly for Princess Ndiwe, whom he described as a true daughter of Onitsha with a deep commitment to the welfare of her people.
“YPP is the party of the masses, and Princess Ndiwe is a woman of the people,” he said.
He added that after electing Princess Ndiwe on August 16, the people must also rally behind Paul Chukwuma and himself during the November 8 governorship election.
“This is the time to end the suffering in Anambra State and bring joy to our people,” he added.
