The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reinstated Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, marking a major victory for the former Rivers Governor, and front line campaigner for Tinubu’s Second Tenure as President.

The decision is coming barely 24 hours after the party met with the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and has raised fears over the future of the party.

Acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, made the announcement at a media briefing on Wednesday.Other people at the press briefing were Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other key stakeholders.

He also announced the cancellation of the planned NEC meeting, saying, “We will have an expanded Caucus, at the next Caucus we will take a decision leading to a proper NEC.

“Anyanwu is resuming as the National Secretary, that is why I said it was a critical decision.

“Like INEC said they don’t have our notice, so what we will have on June 30th is an extended Caucus.”

This is a major victory for the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike who has risen to become ‘an untouchable’ in the party.

The Minister who openly campaigned against the party in support of Tinubu is believed to have finally taken over the structure of the party and may, to a large extent determine the fate of the party.
Observers have expressed fears that the loquacious Rivers Politician may be on a mission to steer the party in favour of President Tinubu ahead the 2027 election.
A party stalwart who prefers to remain anonymous told everydaynewsngr.net that “the party is a already singing it’s Nunc Dimitus.’
He however opined that Tinubu would be left with the carcass of the party as the soul and blood of PDP has moved towards the Coalition Party.
He refused to speak further asking the reporter to cross his fingers and see how the game plays out.
