Retired AIG detains police escorts over Community politics

Two policemen, Inspector Kokotte Isang and Inspector Goodnews Etim attached to Assistant Inspection General of Police, AIG Joseph Mbu (rtd) have been detained on the orders of the retired AIG.

The duo were detained at Ikom Police Station.

Everydaynewsngr.net reliably gathered that trouble started when the the AIG locked the Community Town Hall to prevent members of the community from holding a meeting.

The community consequently reported the matter to the military who stormed the venue with two truck load of soldiers and forcefully opened the hall.

A furious Mbu reportedly confronted his policemen querying why they allowed the army to open the venue.

He was said to have hurriedly left in anger leaving behind the policemen who escorted him at Topman Club Ikom at about 9:30pm on May 11th.

He also left orders to his house guards not to open the gate for them. The policemen slept outside the gate that night according to the source.

It was further revealed that the next day the AIG ordered the detention of the two Inspectors at at the station.
