  • APGA Warriors Carpet IPOB Confrontation Of Soludo In London

APGA Warriors Carpet IPOB Confrontation Of Soludo In London

    Maduka University

    By Okey Maduforo Awka.

The confrontation of Governor Charles Soludo by group of persons who claim to be members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has drawn the anger of APGA Media Warriors which accused them of supporting and sponsoring the insecurity in not only in Anambra state but in the entire South East geopolitical zone.

The confrontation was said to have occured at a Town Hall meeting in London convened by the Governor to interact with Anambra in diaspora on the developmental strides of his administration as a point of departure for the next four years.

They accused the Governor of not making efforts at securing the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and also accused him of sponsoring the attacks and killings of youths in the area .

In a statement by the National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Evang Chinedu Obigwe the incident is the machinations of those he described as fifth columnists who has been behind the killings and kidnappings in Igbo land adding that they are not happy over the return of peace and tranquility in the area.

Obigwe recalled efforts by Soludo to grant them amnesty which those who complied were reintegrated into the society while others chose to remain in the forest noting that the holding of eight local government areas under siege gave impetus to the establishment and launching of the Udo Ga Chi Security Operations which has restored peace and Rule of law back to Anambra state.

“At the inception of Soludo’s administration he had appealed to criminal elements leaving in the forest to come out under his amnesty program and be rehabilitated”

“Soludo urged them to hand over their arms and join in the development of Anambra state which lasted for months ”

“Those who accepted the offer were reintegrated into the society and those that had been in detaintion were granted bail”

“Above all Governor Charles Soludo also visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS facility where he described the Monday sit at home order as illegal and also described the killings and kidnappings in Igbo land as unacceptable to him ”

“Despite these honest and deliberate moves by the Governor those miscreants operating under the guise of IPOB persisted holding eight local government areas of Anambra state under siege”

“People fled their homes and the economy of the entire South East was criminally being sabotaged to say the least”

“Consequent upon this lawlessness that pervaded in the state as it where, Governor Charles Soludo introduced and launched the Operation Udo Ga Chi which is made up of the Agunechemba Security Squad as well as all the Service Commands in the state aimed at putting an end to the carnage in Anambra state”

“Governor Charles Soludo has been on the vanguard for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu urging the Federal government to hand him over to him ”

“Apparently it is indeed most regrettable that some fifth columnists and uninformed people chose to protest against the restoration of sanity ,peace , security and Rule of law in Anambra state”

“Most of these perceived agitators have not come home in the past ten years for fear of being kidnapped or killed and their relatives have continued to advise them not to return home ”

“It is indeed clear that those that came to confront Soludo at the Town Hall meeting are those sponsoring the killings, arsons and insecurity in Anambra state as they have actually lost their deposists in this bloody and deadly interprice”

He recalled that as a result of the security operations Anambra state celebrated mass return for the first time in the past ten years.

“For the first time in the past ten years Anambra state celebrated a mass return as cultural and other traditional functions were held with pop and pageantry”

“These fifth columnists are apparently the real enemies of Anambra and indeed Ndigbo giving the fact that they are protesting against the peace and tranquility that our people are currently enjoying”

“We challenge them to come home in order to have a first hand and on the spot accesment of the peace in Igbo land than making very bogus and false claims” he said.

  • Hard times continue as Dangote refinery raises petrol to N1,275, diesel now N1,950

Hard times continue as Dangote refinery raises petrol to N1,275, diesel now N1,950

    Maduka University
Amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and their ripple effects on global energy markets, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the gantry price of petrol and diesel, further tightening pressure on consumers and businesses across Nigeria.

A top official at the refinery, who confirmed the development to our correspondent on Tuesday night, said the facility adjusted its pricing in response to prevailing international crude oil benchmarks and market realities.

The new pricing template shows that petrol rose by N75 per litre to N1,275, representing an increase of about 5.02 per cent, while diesel jumped by N200 per litre to N1,950.

This marks a sharp increase from last month’s prices of N1,200 per litre for petrol and N1,750 for diesel, signalling that diesel is now on track to breach the N2,000 per litre mark at the pump, further intensifying cost pressures across the economy.

“The adjustment is in line with global market trends. You are aware of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and how they have impacted crude oil prices. These are external factors that directly influence refined product pricing,” the official, who spoke in confidence due to the lack of authorisation to speak on the matter, stated.

He added, “Petrol has been reviewed upward by N75 to N1,275 per litre, which is about a five per cent increase, while diesel has increased more significantly by N200 to N1,950 per litre. These changes reflect the realities of the international market.”

Market data from Petroleumprice.ng corroborated the development, indicating that the latest petrol price reflects a 5.02 per cent increase at the gantry level.

The development comes at a time when stakeholders had hoped that increased local refining capacity would help stabilise domestic fuel prices. However, analysts say Nigeria remains exposed to global oil price volatility due to its reliance on international crude benchmarks for pricing.

The latest hike could trigger a fresh wave of increases in pump prices nationwide, with marketers expected to pass on the additional cost to consumers in the coming days.

Global oil markets have remained volatile in recent weeks due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, a region that accounts for a significant share of the world’s crude oil supply. Any disruption or perceived risk to supply routes often leads to price spikes, which in turn affect refined petroleum products globally.

Nigeria, despite being an oil-producing country, operates a deregulated downstream sector where fuel prices are largely determined by market forces. This means that local prices are influenced by international crude prices, exchange rates, logistics costs, and refinery operations.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Africa’s largest, was expected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel and help stabilise prices. However, experts note that as long as crude oil pricing remains tied to global benchmarks, domestic fuel prices will continue to fluctuate in response to international developments.

The latest increase also comes amid concerns over affordability, with consumers already grappling with high energy and transportation costs. A sustained price increase could worsen inflationary pressures and slow economic recovery.

Police Assure Tight Security in Enugu for Easter Celebrations

    Maduka University

The Enugu State Police Command has assured residents of a safe and peaceful 2026 Easter celebration, announcing the deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state.
In a statement issued on April 2, the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, felicitated with Christians in Enugu and across Nigeria as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Giwa urged the faithful to reflect on the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility, and forgiveness associated with Easter, while also promoting peace, unity, and lawful conduct during the celebrations.
To ensure adequate security, the police commissioner ordered a comprehensive deployment of officers to strategic locations, including churches, recreational centres, major highways, and motor parks. The move, he said, is aimed at deterring criminal activities and ensuring swift response to emergencies.
He further directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical units to intensify visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, and surveillance in collaboration with other security agencies.
The Commissioner also tasked the State Criminal Intelligence Department with strengthening intelligence gathering to prevent security breaches, warning that lapses would not be tolerated.
While assuring residents of the Command’s readiness to maintain law and order, Giwa advised motorists to obey traffic regulations to avoid accidents during the festive period.
He called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.

Controversy Trails Electrocution of Popular Electricity Worker in Enugu

    Maduka University

Controversy has continued to trail the death of a staff member of MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited, Isaac Dike, who was recently electrocuted while on duty in Enugu State.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at about 3:25 p.m., took place at a 300KVA/11KV/0.415KV distribution substation located on Giraffe Street, Ekulu East Estate (Zoo Estate), Enugu.
Confirming the development, the company’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, said preliminary findings suggest the deceased may have been involved in an unauthorised operation at the time of the incident.
According to Ezeh, Dike, a linesman attached to the Ogui District, was engaged in “a yet-to-be-established activity,” raising questions about the nature of the assignment that took him to the location.
He disclosed that the deceased had gone to the site with an official driver, who reportedly said he was unaware of the specific task they were to carry out or the identity of any customer who may have requested the service.
Ezeh further noted that Dike did not inform any member of his team before proceeding to the location. Checks carried out by the company, he added, showed no official record of scheduled work in the area.
“Checks on the company’s fault report log and its Complaint Management System showed no record of any complaint from customers in Ekulu East Estate prior to the incident,” he said.
“There was also no record of any approved outage request for work to be carried out in the area on the day of the incident, suggesting that the accident may have resulted from an unauthorised or illegal activity.”
While expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, Ezeh described the incident as unfortunate and prayed for the repose of his soul.
However, a source who spoke to EverydayNewsNGR alleged that the power station was switched on while Dike was still working on the line, raising further concerns over possible negligence.
“This case has to be investigated thoroughly. Since he was with an official driver, doesn’t that show he was working? Were there efforts to confirm from the driver whether he was on the line before restoring power?” the source queried.
The source described the situation as unacceptable and called for a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to issue an official response to the allegations, while calls for an independent probe continue to grow.

  • My Community Development Efforts Motivated by Governor Soludo’s PPCP Model of development, says Metchie

    Maduka University

… Stands Out in Grassroots Leadership in Anambra East & West Federal Constituency

Anambra State, Nigeria — An impeccable, comprehensive, and independent investigation conducted among grassroots people by the African Writers Centre (AWC) across communities in Anambra East and West Federal Constituency of Anambra State has identified Amb. Dr. John Metchie as a patriot who has what it takes to represent the people of the Constituency at any level of government in Nigeria.

Metchie was generally described as a silent and transformative community development enthusiast, passionate, impactful, and visible in grassroots leadership in Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, with a track record that residents describe as “practical, consistent, and people-driven.”

The AWC careful assessment that lasted several weeks, which included on-site visits, stakeholder interviews, and verification of project evidence, reveals a pattern of sustained humanitarian interventions and selfless community development efforts carried out by Metchie.

It is notable to observe that these interventions were selflessly done by him without holding any government appointment or elective governmental position.

    Documented Impact Across Key Sectors

AWC findings show that Amb. Dr. Metchie’s activities span critical areas affecting everyday life among the people living in various communities in the Constituency. They include:

    Healthcare Access

Residents across multiple communities confirmed benefiting from free medical outreach programmes, including:
    • Eye screenings and treatments
    • Basic healthcare services
    • Support for individuals unable to afford medical care
    • Maternity care for indigent mothers & babies.

Many beneficiaries described the interventions as “hand of God, timely and life-saving,” particularly in underserved rural areas, as a way to support the huge efforts and progress of the State government in the healthcare sector.

    Support for the Vulnerable

The investigation highlights consistent support for:
    • Persons with disabilities (PWDs)
    • Elderly citizens
    • The orphans
    • Low-income families

Respondents in the communities commonly noted that assistance ranged from financial aid to direct material support, often delivered quietly without media attention.

    Education & Capacity Building:
AWC documented targeted initiatives in schools and among students, including:
    • Scholarship schemes
    • Building blocks of classrooms for schools
    • Distribution of learning materials to students.

According to beneficiaries, these interventions have greatly encouraged learning and motivated students in the beneficiary schools in these communities.

    Women & Economic Empowerment:
    AWC documented targeted initiatives supporting:
    • Widows
    • Subsistence farmers
    • Petty traders.

These efforts, according to beneficiaries, have helped improve household incomes and economic stability, particularly among rural women.

    Youth Development Through Sports:
A standout initiative identified during the investigation is Metchie’s annual football tournament, which has become a major youth engagement platform in the constituency.

    The tournament features:
    • Participation from multiple communities
    • Productive and positive engagements
    • Cash prizes and trophies
    • Opportunities for youth interaction and talent discovery.

Community leaders credit the initiative with reducing youth restiveness and promoting unity and productivity.

    Business Support:
Many youths and women have received seed money and startups to help them commence self-reliant entrepreneurship drives like trading, manufacturing, and transportation businesses. Others have been sponsored on skill acquisition schemes to equip them for improved livelihood.

    Community Infrastructure & Security:-
AWC findings confirm the implementation of:
    • Solar-powered street lighting systems, improving night-time safety and economic activity
    • CCTV surveillance networks and central command and monitoring systems, contributing to enhanced community security
    • Donation of vehicles for security patrol, and other necessary facilities to support community policing.

Residents in areas where these facilities exist reported improved security confidence and interventions, as well as reduced incidents of crime. His light up community project using solar has given many people sources of affordable power using simple gadgets.

    Disaster Relief & Emergency Support:-
The report also documents Metchie’s response to flood incidents and other emergencies, where affected families received:
    • Relief materials
    • Financial assistance
    • Immediate humanitarian support and succour.

    National and Community Service:
Beyond humanitarian work and his chain of local and international businesses, AWC’s investigation highlights Metchie’s leadership roles within community and national structures:
    • President General of the town union of the Umueri Ancient Kingdom, the Umueri General Assembly (UGA)
    • Onowu of the Association of Anambra State Town Unions (ASATU)
    • Deputy Commander General (Intelligence), Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS).

These roles, according to analysts, demonstrate a combination of grassroots legitimacy, broadbased administrative experience, and security expertise.

    Growing Public Support:-
Across interviews conducted in markets, community gatherings, and among youth and women groups, AWC observed a recurring sentiment of trust and community acceptance associated with Metchie.

Several members of the communities emphasized that his approach differs from traditional political engagement, which they described as often limited to short-term material distribution, rather than long-term development.

A youth, Arinze Okafor stated that most of the people who had represented the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency did very little or nothing, “always sharing rice and short-lived consumables.”

Another community stakeholder noted, “What stands out is that these things were done before any political ambition became public. That gives people confidence.”

    Equity and Representation Discourse:-
The investigation also uncovered ongoing discussions around equity and zoning within the constituency. AWC was told that there is an existing gentleman’s agreement on zoning of political offices among the communities in the Constituency and that it is the rightful turn of Umueri, Amb. Metchie’s community to produce the Honourable Member to represent the Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 11th National Assembly in Nigeria.

With many stakeholders suggesting that it is time for leadership to emerge from areas that have not recently held the position, the coast seems clear for the people, who have become excited that at last, the Constituency would have a grassroots man, a community-spirited person, one of their own, Amb. John Metchie to represent them.

Within this context, Metchie is increasingly being referenced as a viable, prepared, tested and trusted option, given both his community roots and track records.

It is not surprising that, apart from the various local and international professional trainings and qualifications Metchie has earned in security, business and other disciplines, he has also been decorated with many awards and honours in Nigeria and internationally. These include recognitions by foreign countries and the United Nations.

    Assessment Summary:
Based on the pulse of the communities and the general outlook of the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, it is concluded that:
    • Amb. Dr. John Metchie has built a verifiable record of community service
    • His interventions reflect a structured approach to development, not isolated gestures
    • His influence cuts across healthcare, education, and capacity building, community empowerment, women, youth support and engagement, security, and business support
    • There is a growing base of grassroots acceptance and recognition.

The bottom line is that Amb. John Metchie has, without planning it or knowing it, built an unprecedented organic followership borne out of robust social capital, a huge value that comes from long relationships, trust, and social networks with his people.

These natural connections between him and the grassroots individuals and groups have become a rare asset of immense value to cooperate, share concerns with sincerity, and achieve community goals for the common good of his people.

In simple terms, Amb. Metchie is the one the community people know, they wholly trust and they are free and prepared to work with.

This is based on the trust, the networks they have collectively built within, as well as shared values and expectations that motivate them for greater achievements.

    Conclusion
As political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections, AWC’s independent findings suggest that Amb. Dr. John Metchie has already established a strong foundation of credibility and visibility within the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency.

It is certain that this dynamic and potent momentum would translate into electoral success, as the community people are gearing up to go the whole hog to harness these potentials for political victory.

In any case, one conclusion from the field is clear: Metchie is a known grassroots figure, a towering institution of many parts, a potent community rallying point, and a formidable political force in Anambra East and West Federal Constituency.

He has become a central voice in the constituency’s evolving leadership conversation, an acceptable community voice.

To Metchie, his community development efforts and selfless support for his people was motivated by the innovative and resourceful injection of the PPCP model of development by Mr. Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Odenigbo, Olu-Atu Egwu Ndi Anambra.

According to Dr. Metchie, “I fell in love with Prof. Soludo’s people-centric Public – Private – Community Partnership model of development, which has amplified development in Anambra State beyond what IGR and Federal allocations available to the State could achieve.

  • APC Convention Theft: How Stolen iPhone 17 Was Tracked, Recovered, Govt Official Arrested

APC Convention Theft: How Stolen iPhone 17 Was Tracked, Recovered, Govt Official Arrested

    Maduka University

An aide to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Wale Ajetunmobi, has narrated how his high-end mobile phone was stolen and later recovered during the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) convention in Abuja.
Ajetunmobi disclosed that the incident occurred at the VVIP entrance of Eagle Square amid confusion caused by multiple security checkpoints and attempts by unaccredited individuals to gain access.
According to him, his iPhone 17 Pro Max (2TB) was discreetly taken from his deep side pocket during the commotion. He said he was initially disoriented by the excitement surrounding the governors’ grand entrance before realizing the phone was missing.
Despite the loss, he continued participating in the event before later activating Apple’s tracking system using his iPad. The device was quickly traced to Wuse Zone 6, about 8km from Eagle Square, and later to Karu.
Ajetunmobi said he contacted a senior police officer in Abuja, which led to the involvement of the Scorpion Squad. The team, led by ASP Isah Mohammed, began tracking the suspect and eventually located the phone near an NNPC filling station in Karu.
He explained that the final recovery took place at a roadside car lot near Karu Bridge. Using the “Find My” app, he pinpointed the exact location of the device inside a makeshift shelter where several individuals were gathered. Acting on his signal, undercover police officers moved in.
After searching several individuals, the suspect—identified as Mahmoud—was found with the phone hidden in his trousers. The device was switched off due to low battery but was confirmed after Ajetunmobi powered it on and entered his passcode.
The suspect, who reportedly claimed to be affiliated with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice, was arrested.
Ajetunmobi praised the professionalism and swift response of the police officers involved in the operation, noting that their efforts ensured the successful recovery of his device.
The incident has sparked concerns about security lapses at high-profile political gatherings, even within restricted VVIP sections.
