Bishop Callistus Onaga, the Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese has opened up on his recent clampdown on Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka of the Enugu Adoration Ministry.
In his sermon last Sunday at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu the Catholic Bishop spoke on ‘organizing gifts and weaknesses’.
He told the congregation that gifts come from God. “God gives all gifts. But beneath every gift lies the weaknesses of man’s imperfections.
“They say it’s envy. Are you the only person who God blessed with a special gift? Are you the first person with such a gift?
“Many people have had it and also had their weaknesses which the superintending authorities are there to checkmate and correct. And that is what I have tried to do.”
Although Onaga did not mention names majority believe he was referring to his recent attempts to shutdown the Adoration ground and ban Fr. Mbaka from making public speeches.
The face off which led to protests finally saw the bishop suspending Mbaka for some weeks amidst criticisms.
The church was divided, even as some governor’s from the South East were accused of trying to use the bishop to shut Mbaka up from criticizing the Government.
