It was a sad day in the ancient town of Ikare Akoko, Ondo state on Tuesday when a female Junior Secondary student of Mount Carmel Girls school was swept away by flood around river Dada in semusemu area of the town.
Eyewitness account has it that the girl simply identified as Motunrayo was playing in the rain and was using her legs to measure the depth of the flood while going home.
It was gathered that the victim was taken off balance and before help could reach her, the flood had swept her directly into the popular but notorious River Dada around the Semusemu area of Ikare town.
Confirming the incident the divisional police officer DPO Ikare Akoko, Supretendent of police, Sp Olatujoye Akinwande disclosed that the school principal, Mrs Ajoke Asiwaju reported the case to them saying that search and rescue operation had commenced
Akinwande urged parents to caution their children against playing with flood.
