Govt House police invade Senior Civil Servants election in Abia

Abia State Government on Thursday, through the Chief of Staff to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, using a detachment of police personnel, interrupted the election of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, Abia State Chapter.
The Association were holding their election at their Secretariat located at No.122 Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia when a detachment of mobile policemen from the Government House invaded the venue.
It was gathered that a team of Policemen which was led by the Chief Security Officer(CSO) to the Governor of Abia state, CSP Ubani arrived at the Union Secretariat in the company of Mr Ihechi Enogwe, a contestant for the position of Chairman by 12:13 pm as delegates from all the Federal Establishments Units of the Union were casting their votes to elect the new Federal Chapter Executives in the State.
The CSO and his team, it was also gathered, interrupted the election and insisted that the  National Vice  President, and the Assistant Secretary General, of the Union who were supervising the election must follow them to Government House to meet with the Chief of Staff to the Governor based on petition brought before the Chief of Staff by Mr Enogwe.
It was further gathered that the delegates who were Senior Civil Servants from Federal Establishments protested the intrusion of the Police operatives in the peaceful Union election  because a contestant Mr Enogwe is connected to the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
The National Vice President  and the Assistant Secretary General were allegedly whisked away to the Government House while  the election went on and  results announced and  subsequently, the new Executive were sworn in to pilot the affairs of the Chapter in Abia State for the next four years.
The election was conducted under the supervision of the Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Samuel Ogiriga.
