Unknown Labour leaders at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, alleged to have been hired have reportedly passed a “vote of confidence” on the Managing Director, Dr. Monday Igwe.
The Confidence vote is coming on the heels of allegations of corruption slammed on Dr. Monday Igwe by a Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Enugu state, NIGERIA.
The alleged fake Labour Leaders were reported to have commended Dr. Monday Igwe for his “Good Works” in the crisis ridden hospital.
Reacting to the development, an inside source who doesn’t want his name used , narrated her ordeal in the hands of Dr. Monday Igwe.
In his words “we are surprised to notice that many people who are not our staff crowded the Press briefing Arena, clapping and cheering Dr. Monday Igwe once his name was mentioned over unfounded and unverifiable claims.
“Infact, I asked the TV-Camara men who covered the press briefing to close up on the faces of those cheering the fake vote of confidence; you discover a lot of rented crowd impersonating staff of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital just to dish out vote of confidence”.
The source further narrated how five workers allegedly spent about 13 years in one grade level, and Dr. Monday Igwe promoted four out of the five staff without going for promotion exercise, just to allegedly humiliate and punish the remaining one.
Those promoted, allegedly have no NYSC exemption letter, and did not participate in a known promotion interview.
They were allegedly promoted without the necessary requirements because they allegedly paid money and sidelined one of them who Dr. Igwe sees as opposition.
He wondered why the Labour leaders would claim that the “once elusive cordial working and peaceful environment in the hospital have been restored under Professor Igwe’s administration” when Doctor Monday has not provided answers to the corruption allegations levelled against him by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Enugu.
“One cannot mistake silence as true peace or believe there could be peace in the absence of justice and fairness.
“When the rented Labor leaders claimed that Professor Igwe has worked very hard to reposition the hospital on the path of peace and progress; I wonder if planting his wife in the school to the detriment of those who worked hard for years to bring the school to limelight, as well as deliberate intimidation of workers are part of working hard for peace.
“Can a man who denied staff of their entitlements and deliberately looking for ways to sack workers who have not offended him be described as someone working for peace?
“Those he hired to deceive the public can continue to pass vote of confidence but nobody can stop us from telling the world the true situation at Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital; one can categorically state that Dr. Monday Igwe is the architect of the renewed internal Crisis in the hospital.
“However, If there are no crises, there could have been no need for vote of confidence. There could have been no need to rent people to sing praise. No need to decieve some staff to come for prayer session only to be deceived into joining rented people to sing praises when the hospital is the only hospital in Nigeria that has not received their April/May salary of 2017”
“I can only plead with Dr. Monday Igwe to allow all the staff to do their jobs without witch hunting.
“He is owing the NYSC staff 10 months salary of N5000 thousand naira a month. He sacked a level three staff that earns less than N40,000 a month with six children without due process. But he left people who are worse because they are his people. Most staff cannot talk for fear of victimisation and bullying.
“The last External Auditors’ report indicted the Medical Director for signing of all contracts in the hospital by himself which ought to be signed by the Hospital lawyer and the Head of Procurement as stipulated by extant law.
“The Medical Director is collecting cash with receipt instead of remital.
“He has applied for consideration of second tenure while depriving others of their positions because of his wife and other interests.
“We call the Minister to hear the voice of the oppressed and the other faction in the hospital because he uses divide and rule, marginalising those who are not from Ebonyi.
