The leadership of Obinagu Obeagu Akegbe, Enugu South local government area of Enugu State, has raised a dirge that some land grabbers from Amuzam are encroaching on their ancestral land at Lake Side Layout Phase one and two.
A statement by the Chairman of Obinagu Development Union, Pastor Kingston Ndubueze, Mr Emmanuel Oko, Secretary and Chief Ikechukwu, Chairman, Power of Attorney respectively, warned the alleged land grabbers to steer clear of the land, pointing out that Supreme Court had ruled over the years that the land belonged to them.
They specifically called out names from Amuzam Obeagu who they accused of the land racketeering to include Mr Mike Ogbonna, also known as Okwadike; Mr Ebere Ogbe; Mr Justice Nnaji and Rev JC Agbo and advised them to respect the court judgment, retrace their steps in the interest of peace.
The statement signed by the trio reads: “The people of Obinagu Obeagu Akegbe in Enugu South Local Government has raised the alarm over encroachment on their ancestral land known as LAKE SIDE LAYOUT PHASE ONE AND TWO by some disgruntled greedy elements on land grabbing mission from Amuzam.
“The issue of boundary on the layout has long been determined by the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 1949 in an unequivocally, unambiguous and celebrated judgement which gave right of ownership to the good people Obinagu Obeagu Akegbe.

According to the statement their position serves as caveat emptor on the said layout one and two as the people of the community would not be held responsible for any land transaction/title transfer / claimed to have been purportedly entered by any person, group or organisation by another.

“We passionately warn these self serving individuals from Amuzam Obegu, Mr Mike Ogbonna know as Okwadike Mr Ebere Ogbe, Mr Justice Nnaji and Rev JC Agbo of Amuzam Obeagu to desist from encroaching into the layout and respect the Supreme Court judgement to avoid creating unnecessary tension in the land against the mission of the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubisi Mba who is driving peace with vigor to ensure development and investors are welcomed in all parts of the state,” the statement warns.
