Chief Whip of Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Jane Eneh is currently swimming in troubled waters over allegations of perjury.
The divorcee lawmaker is believed to have been invited by the police for questioning, possible arrest and prosecution.
She is accused of presenting certificate of her marriage which was dissolved in 2011 to the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC in 2019.
In a petition to the police Mr. Kenechukwu Nweke a native of Owelli in Awgu LGA, Enugu State, noted that the suspect Hon. Jane Chinwendu Eneh is from Udi Local Government Area of the state.
That she was once married to Chief

Emmanuel U. Eneh of Agbudu, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

That Jane Chinwendu Eneh had her marriage with Chief Emmanuel Eneh, dissolved by the Enugu State High Court on the 4″ day of January 2011.

That with the intent to deceive and falsify information and knowing full well that she was no longer married to Chief Emmanuel Eneh, the Chief Whip proceeded to contest and represent Awgu North constituency in the 2019 election.
“In doing so she gave false information to the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) while pretending that the marriage between her and Chief Emmanuel U. Eneh was still subsisting.”

Counsel to the Petitioner, E W Oji Esq confirmed that the police has invited the Chief Whip, Hon. Jane to obtain her statement, begin proper Investigation and possible arraignment.

Oji emphasized that the Chief Whip, Honorable Jane Eneh shall upon conviction vacate her current tenure and refund all the monies she was paid as a member Representing Awgu North in the Enugu State House of Assembly from 2019 to date.

How it all started

EverydayNews search revealed that the issue has to do with the tussle for the  Awgu North House of Assembly ticket. Many are of the opinion that Hon. Jane Eneh who hails from Udi LGA is no longer eligible to represent Awgu North, based on her marriage dissolution.

A protest letter was reportedly sent to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi by Concerned PDP Stakeholders from Awgu LGA on 14/04/2022, Titled “Alleged Case Of Perjury Against Jane Eneh (Aka. Jane Eneh) Chief Whip ENSHA”

They expressed concern about the discovery that Jane Eneh’s marriage was officially dissolved by a court of Law, and she still went ahead to use the same marriage certificate, and purportedly submitted the same to INEC in the 2019 election.

“We don’t want PDP to lose in our constituency (AWGU NORTH), other political parties are wishing that you make the mistake of returning Jane Eneh to commit the crime of Perjury twice.

“Her case of Perjury in the 2019 election is still ongoing and there are serious consequences.”

The battle has thus continued after she was picked as PDP candidate in the just concluded primaries.
