Ekiti guber: EFCC arrests 5 for alleged vote-buying

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have arrested five persons in connection with alleged vote-buying during the Saturday’s governorship election held in Ekiti State.

The suspects who were arrested by men of the ant-graft agency, were said to be members of a prominent political party participating in the election.

The Nigerian Monitor gathered that they were arrested at two different polling boots in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

An eyewitness account revealed that some of the suspects were arrested at a popular voting center in Okeyinmi street, while others were apprehended at Oke-Ori Omi area, along Oke Barake road also in Ado-Ekiti.

An EFCC source disclosed that some persons were also arrested at a private residence in Oke-Ori Omi area with a book containing names and phone numbers of voters while the exercise was going on.

According to the eyewitness, the suspects were caught with huge amounts of money allegedly used to induce voters during the exercise.

The suspects who were said to have been paraded by the EFCC briefly, were whisked to the Ibadan zonal office of the commission on Saturday, for further investigation.
