Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has expressed concern over the continued complain and petitions by the different host communities of the General Hospitals in the State over the personalization of the 20 newly procured ambulances by the residents doctors in charge of the hospitals.
Governor Nwifuru warned the resident doctors to henceforth desist from using the ambulances as private vehicles and insisted that the ambulances are meant to convey patients and must be within the hospital environment.
Governor Nwifuru gave the warning while addressing the people of the State to mark this years Independence Day Anniversary celebration held at the Governor’s Office Pavilion, New Government House Abakaliki.
He called on the different communities to ensure that they take charge and control of the ambulances adding that the vehicles belong to the community and not to the resident doctors.
He said that the State Government have successfully procured 4 Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI, Machines, medical consumables and other medical equipment for use in the 13 General Hospitals.
“We have also procured laboratory Chemicals and Reagents as well as oxygen cylinders for Health Centres in the State. We have recruited 195 medical personnel to work in all our general hospitals in the State.
Governor Nwifuru stated that his administration have increase the allowances of resident doctors by N150,000.00 each adding that 42 SUVs have been procured and distributed to the medical doctors.
“We have injected over 100 Million Naira for our routine immunization across the State. With this measure, the State Ministry of Health has successfully completed 2023 immunization against Out Break Response (OBR) for children.
“I have also directed that medical personnel attached to our Health facilities should be resident at their various places of work. The ministry in the day ahead will step up awareness compaign to combat cancer, Sickle cell and outbreaks. Ends.
