Enugu State Government has described as false and misleading reports circulating online that the National Boundary Commission (NBC) has allegedly ceded parts of Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of the state to neighbouring Kogi State, warning that such claims are capable of creating unnecessary tension among the people.

In a public notice issued by the Enugu State Boundary Committee (ESBC) from the Office of the Deputy Governor, the state government disclosed that it contacted the Director-General of the National Boundary Commission, Surveyor Adamu A. Adaji, who categorically denied the report.

According to the notice, Adaji stated that “the information being circulated is fake news and did not emanate from the National Boundary Commission,” adding that “no decision whatsoever has been taken on the interstate boundary dispute between Enugu State and Kogi State.”

The government urged residents of Enugu State, particularly the people of Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, to remain calm and continue with their normal activities.

“The good people of Enugu State should not panic or worry, as no resolution of such nature has been reached,” the notice said.

It further described the report as “fake, baseless, unrealistic and unfounded,” advising the public to completely disregard it.”
