Staff of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Abia State have staged a peaceful protest, demanding for payment of their benefits by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr. Joseph Iloh.Ikoh is amongst about 20 RECs whose that tenures will expire soon.
The staff reportedly locked up the entrance and block the exit gates with the staff welfare bus insisting that the REC will not leave office until he pays outstanding benefits.A staff who spoke to newsmen said some of the outstanding benefits include that of the recently conducted primaries.
Efforts to get the reaction of the embattled REC did not succeed as at press time.
