A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia the Abia State capital and presided over by Justice Evelyn Anyadike has adjourned to November 3, 2023 the case filed by Mr Ndubisi Etugo Ogah seeking to remove Professor Uche Ikonne as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 governorship election in Abia State over Agreement on rotation of governorship seat of the State.

Mr Ogah in a case no FHC/UM/CS/63/2022 filed by his lawyer Barr P.C Dike is praying the court to disqualify Ikonne as PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 election on the ground that an Aggrement on Rotation known as Abia Charter of  Equity (ACE) signed by the founding fathers of Abia State shows that it is not the turn of Abia Central Senatorial zone where Ikonne comes from to produce the governor of the State in 2023 but the turn of Abia North Senatorial zone.

Ogah is consequently asking the court to order PDP to concede the governorship ticket to Abia North Senatorial zone and stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing Ikonne as PDP candidate for the governorship election.
LSpeaking shortly to journalists shortly after Justice Anyadike adjourned the case, Barr Dike said he and other lawyers handling the case are ready for the fireworks to prove to the court that their client has a good case which is to defend the position of the founding fathers on rotation of the governorship seat among the three Senatorial zones in the State lamenting that the case is being delayed owing to some mix up in the court proceeding.
