A total of eight Communities in Idemili South local government area of Anambra state are currently being vaccinated against the spread of pneumonia.
Disclosing this during the flag off of International Pneumonia Day in Idemili South local government area the Council Chairman Iyom Amaka Obi noted that the misconception and myth around the vaccine against pneumonia is false urging the public to discountenance them .
“We have commenced the campaign against the deadly pneumonia virus and we are targeting the eight Communities in the local government area”
“We learnt that people have been going about spreading falsehood about a certain myth and misconceptions about the anti pneumonia virus and I want to tell you all that they are false” she said.
Hon. Mrs Obi, also harped on the need for people to avoid exposing their bodies to cold environments capable of getting their lungs affected.
Obi noted that Anambra First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, had been sensitizing the people on the importance and efficacy of immunisation, stating that pneumonia is one of the deadliest diseases that can be prevented by vaccination.
While stating that vaccines saves millions of lives yearly, protect us, our children and communities from many deadly diseases, she urged residents of the council area to embrace healthy lifestyle championed by Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo which she said that healthy food contributed in healthy living.
