The headquarters of Idemili North Local Government Area situated at Ogidi, Anambra state has been set ablaze.
The invaders attacked the Council Headquarters in the early hours of Monday, 16th May, 2022.
Reports say the Magistrate Court located within the Council Secretriat as well as the the office of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC were also affected by the inferno.
The early arrival of security personnel and the locals helped in containing the fire which was aimed at razing the entire structure.
However, parts of the building and the operational vehicles parked in the premises where completely destroyed. There was no human casualty as a a result of the attack.
The State Police Command confirmed the attack but said the intention of the yet to be identified arsonists weren’t fulfilled as their men were quickly drafted to the area to contain the situation and save the buildings from being completely burnt down.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the State Police Command said: “Yes, there was an attack at the council secretariat in the early hours of Monday and our men were quickly drafted to the scene.
“Right now, the fire has been put off, and calm restored to the area.”
