Police, Top Officials Condole Family Of Slain Enugu Musician, Vow Swift Justice

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, alongside top government officials, visited the family of late Ogene musician, Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, popularly known as Igbo-Jah, on October 26, 2024, to offer condolences following his tragic death. Nwamba was fatally shot by a police officer. 

During the visit, CP Uzuegbu assured the family and the public that a thorough investigation is underway and promised swift justice. He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to holding officers accountable for misconduct, ensuring such acts do not go unpunished. 

Meanwhile, Police Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph has been identified as the officer involved in the incident. He is currently in custody and will face legal proceedings after the investigation concludes. 

The Commissioner urged the public to remain patient and have faith in the police while the case progresses. 

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Command, confirmed the development in a statement released today.
