The land dispute between former Governor Jim Nwobodo and his kinsmen took a dangerous dimension Wednesday night as miscreants stormed the house of a lecturer and set his car ablaze.

The attack is coming days after the lecturer published an opinion article about the crisis in his community, titled “Indiscriminate display of power and weakening of traditional institution in Enugu.”

EverydayNews gathered that the victim, Engr. Dr. Patrick Nnaji, a lecturer at the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (UAES) Umuagwo, was not at home when his residence was attacked.

His brother, Onyekwere Nnaji who spoke about the incident narrated how he came out of the house that night and saw two persons lurking around the compound.

On sighting him, the intruders he said made a move, as though to pull out guns, forcing him to run back into the house.

They reportedly used a gallon of petrol which they appeared to have brought along with them and set the car, a Primera with Reg No Ebonyi NCA 49 AA, ablaze.

Senator Jim Nwodo have been on war path with his Amechi Awkunanaw Community over a large portion of land which the villagers say belongs to the community.

The land was said to have been given to Nwobodo in1980 to build the now moribond Satellite Newspapers.

They argue that since the land is no longer being used for the reason it was given out, it should be returned to the community.

But the former Governor claims that the land was a gift from the community.
