Oko Killings; 6 Persons Arrested, Cult Camp Smashed By Anambra Police

Fourty eight hours after the Anambra Police Command and the Authorities of Federal Polytechnic Oko launched a new security architecture in the community, six persons have been arrested when security operatives smashed a suspected cult hide out in the area.

Recall that last weekend gunmen stormed the Community and killed two persons and also kidnaped another two in the area.

Consequent upon that incident,the Anambra Police Command and the Authorities of the instruction launched a new security architecture which has recorded positive results following the arrest of the six persons.

Meanwhile the Command has also continued manhunt for the gunmen and rescue of the two persons.

Already the six suspects are providing vital information to security operatives since after their arrest.

During the raid by the Engwu Ukwu Ant Cult unit of the Command various substances suspected to be narcotics were recovered from the suspects suggesting that the last week incident may have emanated from the camp .

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga fresh facts are currently emerging about the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD* has emphasized the significant role that substance abuse plays in fueling crime and has directed a major clampdown on all criminal activities in Oko and its environs. Consequently, the Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugwu Ukwu in the early hours of 25th June, 2025 burst a drug den in Oko, arrested six suspects and recovered a large quantity of various hard substances’

“The suspects arrested include: Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna, all males between the ages of 24 and 35 years respectively”

“They are currently undergoing interrogations for necessary information, especially on the recent disturbing incident in Oko”

“Given the above, the Command believes that this initiative may help to nip in the bud the prevalence of criminal activities and expose more criminal networks in the area” the statement read.
