About 15 youths indulging in drugs especially the dreaded Crystal Methamphetamine (Mkpurummiri) have been arrested in Enugu.
This is sequel to a raid in some major black sopts in the Enugu metropolis by the Enugu North LGA Chairman Hon. Emeka Onunze Tata.
EverydayNews reoprts that on 8th December 2021, about 11am the Enugu North LG Chairman, Hon. Emeka Onunze Tata, invaded all the black spots, hideouts where Crystal Methamphetamine popularly known as (Mkpurummiri) are sold/consumed within Enugu north LG.
The places invaded are Morehouse, Okwuosa Bridge, Oba Street River meanwhile over Fifteen (15) suspected addicts including dealers were arrested and currently cooling off at the Ogui Police Station while investigation is ongoing.
Recall the Southeastern Governors meeting on the 3rd of December 2021 worried over intake of illegal drugs among youths, which they resolved to deal decisively with anyone or group apprehended.
In the same vain, the Nigerian Drug law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stressed it that the addiction has no cure and drug abuse should not be treated as a political issue but a socio-economical issue.
The council Chairman Hon. Onunze while addressing the people in the area, educated them on the negative effects of hard drugs especially Mkpurummiri.

He warned that anyone arrested for drugs will be prosecuted. “There will be no mercy,” he insisted.
The Chairman harped on the dangers if hard drugs stressing that it has no cure.
He also identified drugs is one major cause of the increase in crime rat abuse as one major cause of crime in the society. .
