Two persons, a policemen and one other were reportedly killed Wednesday afternoon when unknown gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The incident was said to have happened at the G-Hostel Junction near the popular PRESCO junction in the Ebonyi State capital.
Details of the attack are still sketchy as at press time but our reporter gathered that the gunmen who were three in number operated in a motorcycle.
They reportedly opened fire on the Policemen at the checkpoint killing one instantly.
In the gun duel that ensued the police were able to kill one of the hoodlums just as they made good their escape.
The Police in Ebonyi confirmed the incident but said that they were still gathering information on the attack.
