#Ndufu Amagu Ward Counsellor Warns Against Brewing Crisis

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of some persons following the crisis that erupted at Ndiagu Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area of the State which led to the death of one Nwoyike Ugbaloke while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Joshua Ukandu said that some persons has been arrested in connection with the crisis and noted that the command is still investigating the matter to ascertain what led to the crisis.

What I can tell you is that some persons has been arrested and the matter is being investigated. The community came for a meeting at the headquarters here and they had discussions with the police management team. I can’t give you much details now as we are still looking into the matter.

Soon, the command will come out with a detailed report of the incident and that would be made public to the press.

Reacting to the ugly incident, the Councillor Representing Ndiagu Amagu Ward 1 and Chief Whip of Ikwo Legislative, Hon Ochere Gilbert Oforbuike condemned the killing of Mr. Nwoyike Ugbaloke and the disappearance of many others in Ndiagu Amagu community.

The deceased, Nwoyika Ugbaloke and Thomas Ngaragu were attacked by some persons from the community but regrettably Ugbaloke did not survive the attack. Many people are said to be missing from the community following the attack.

In an interview with journalists on the crisis rocking the community, Hon Oforbuike described the killing as sad and unfortunate adding that those who masterminded the attack are those who are doing so for selfish political interest.

He noted that the leadership crisis in the community has since been resolved by some stakeholders of the area and the traditional ruler of the community but expressed the regret that despite the amicable resolution of the dispute, some persons still went ahead to attack those they perceived as enemies.

The lawmaker commended the Nigeria Police for the arrest of about 11 persons who are instigating the crisis in the community adding that those who are still at large should also be arrested to ensure that peace returns to the community.

He stated that no political interest or aspiration is worth the lives of any member of the community adding that the people must always be allowed to choose their representatives and not by imposition and intimidation.

The lawmaker stated that development only thrives where there is peace, harmony and mutual co-existance and wondered why people will bear arms and attack other members of the community without any serious provocation.

He also commended the traditional ruler of the community Eze Isaiah Otubo for his peaceful disposition and accommodating spirit.

Similarly, the Councillor Representing Ndufu Amagu Ward 1, Hon Mmaduabuchi Nwancho has also raised alarm over possible crisis in the community and called on Security Agencies in the State to nip it in the bud before it escalates.

Hon Nwancho in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki urged stakeholders of the community especially the Traditional Ruler of Ndufu Amagu community, Eze Dominic Alor not to take side and desist from Instigating the removal of Village head but should work with the community to sustain the peace in the area.

He said that the State Government had earlier warned against the removal of any village head and maintained that the power to elect village heads belong to the people and warned those plotting the removal of village heads in the community to desist from such act.

The lawmaker commended security agencies in the State for arresting some persons in the community for their involvement in the brewing crisis in the community and urged them to also apprehend the few others remaining in the community.

He noted that the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has embarked on numerous laudable projects in the community and warned that crisis might affect the good intentions of the State Governor for the people of the community. Ends.
