The Nigeria Police have invited a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Danagogo is expected to appear before investigators on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following an invitation issued by the police as part of an ongoing investigation.
In the invitation letter, the police stated:
“This office is inviting you in respect of an ongoing investigation, to appear in person to shed light on some information.”
The letter further requested Danagogo to report at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Complex, Old Abattoir, close to Guzape Junction, Abuja, by 10:00 a.m. prompt, noting that the exercise is a fact-finding one.
“Please be informed that this is a fact-finding exercise in the interest of justice and fairness, in line with the provisions of Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.”
The invitation is reportedly connected to an alleged leaked audio recording in which an assassination plot against the FCT Minister was discussed.
According to a police source, the conversation allegedly involved Danagogo and a Port Harcourt–based cleric, Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, who was earlier arrested by security operatives in connection with the matter.
The source claimed that during the intercepted phone conversation, the two men allegedly discussed plans to recruit Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination of the minister. The conversation reportedly ended with a proposal to seek financial support to fund the alleged operation.
Police authorities have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the audio recording or the full details of the allegations, while investigations are said to be ongoing.
Efforts to reach Danagogo for comments as of the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.
