Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a warning to Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that the United States government under Donald Trump may eventually work toward removing him from office.
Ayodele made the claim in a statement released on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, in Nigeria.
According to the cleric, Washington’s engagement with Nigeria is not genuinely supportive but may be aimed at undermining Tinubu’s administration. He alleged that despite efforts by the Nigerian government to maintain positive relations, the U.S. leader could eventually turn against the Nigerian president.
“America isn’t working in favour of Tinubu… Trump will come around against him,” Ayodele said, warning that U.S. involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape could worsen the country’s situation.
The cleric also cautioned Nigerian authorities to remain vigilant, suggesting the possibility of coordinated actions or security challenges linked to foreign influence.
Political analysts, however, note that Ayodele has a long history of making high-profile geopolitical predictions concerning Nigerian leadership and international relations. Many of such claims are often viewed in political circles as speculative and lacking independent verification.
The statement comes amid ongoing discussions about Nigeria–U.S. diplomatic relations, security cooperation, and the political outlook ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
