The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four male suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations, recovering three stolen vehicles—one taken in Enugu State and two snatched in Anambra State—including a vehicle linked to a 2022 kidnapping incident.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were carried out at different locations within Enugu between January and February 2026.
On February 26, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), working with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, arrested 22-year-old Teso Joseph Nsor at Christ Chemist Roundabout, Enugu. Nsor, a native of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, was apprehended while attempting to escape with a Toyota Hiace bus allegedly stolen using a master key. The vehicle was recovered, its owner identified, and the suspect was arraigned in court on February 27, where he was remanded in a Correctional Centre.
In another operation, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested Ugwuanyi Samuel, also known as “Sammyblack,” on January 31, 2026. The 36-year-old suspect, identified as a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, was found in possession of a red Toyota Camry (Spider) bearing a National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) plate number. Police investigations revealed that the vehicle belonged to a woman from Ogbunike, Anambra State, and was forcefully taken in June 2022 after her son was kidnapped at gunpoint. The victim reportedly paid a ₦500,000 ransom before her son was released, while the vehicle was repainted and carted away.

Earlier, on January 24, 2026, the same Tactical Squad, acting on intelligence, stormed New Garriki area of Awkunanaw, Enugu, where they arrested two suspects—Chinonso Onyibe John, alias “Flexing,” aged 27, and Nwankwor Uchenna Samuel, aged 41, an ex-convict. A red Toyota Matrix was recovered from the suspects, who reportedly confessed to snatching the vehicle at gunpoint in Awka, Anambra State, on January 23, 2026. The suspects also allegedly admitted involvement in other criminal operations, including the theft of a Lexus RX 350 and a Toyota Highlander.
Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to track down other accomplices, adding that the remaining suspects and recovered exhibits would be handed over to the Anambra State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to combat crime across the state and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information and adopting basic vehicle security measures.
