….Dedicates award to the performing Governor of Enugu State
The chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area Engr. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike has bagged a National Award as one of the best performing Council chairmen in the country.
The award was presented at the just concluded 23rd Rootswatch Distinguished Local Government Chairmen Merit Award 2025.
Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, who emerged winner in two categories (Education and Rural Electrification), was decorated by Mallam Isa Lanre Onilu, the Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA).
The award, one of the numerous awards the chairman has received is a testament to his administration’s commitment to delivering projects that addresses the need of his people and his huge investment in education and other human capital development initiatives.
Over the last six months of his administration, Engr. Beloved-Dan Anike, has flagged off the Greater Tomorrow Scholarship Scheme with full scholarship awarded to 50 SS1 students, he also paid WAEC fee for 1,700 SS3 students in all the public secondary schools in Enugu East LGA.
His administration has also profiled all undergraduates and postgraduates including Nursing and Education students in the council area, both indigenes and residents, for bursary award and full scholarship respectively.
In the area of Rural Electrification, it is an unprecedented achievement with the procurement of 13 brand new 500 KVA transformers, already delivered and installed in communities across the local government and 7 already commissioned for use.
Additionally, 3 other transformers are currently being energized for other communities, making it a total of 16 rural electrification projects executed by his administration.
Addressing newsmen after the award presentation, the Mayor thanked God for his emergence as one of the best performing Local Chairmen in the country.
He dedicated the award to the Governor of Enugu State. In his words, I thank God for the man whom I’m dedicating this award to, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, the truly performing Governor of Enugu State.
A man who is doing over 1000 projects; a man who said that “Our Tomorrow Is Here;” who has a 50 year development plan he wants to execute in 8 years, and has plugged us as automated wagons in leading the transformative change in Enugu State.
The importance of Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike’s vision, commitment, initiatives and investment in delivering projects not only addresses the need of his people but repositioning the local government and its people in a trajectory of sustainable development.
The award is an eloquent evidence that Anike’s hardwork and leadership is receiving the deserved recognition and commendation from all and sundry.
The award ceremony which held Thursday 15th May, 2025, at Merit House in Abuja, was attended by other Performing Local Government Chairmen in the country, other distinguished Nigerians and had the Director General of National Orientation Agency(NOA), Mallam Isa Lanre Onilu, as the Chairman of the Occasion.
