Good morning your Excellency this Monday morning. Your good works in Enugu have not gone unnoticed. The many road projects going on at the same time speaks volume.
You are sticking to the same manifesto that endeared you to Enugu people at the polls. Well done your Excellency.
Today’s edition of Good Morning Mr Governor comes from our newsdesk at Everydaynewsngr.net
The controversy over who becomes the new traditional ruler of Mburubu Community in the Nkanu East LGA has been conspicuous in the media in recent times.
The crisis has been brewing. The drums  have consistently sounded. But, it’s still early in the day to arrest the situation.
It all started with the presentation of Ozor Engr Jerry Patrick Onuh, Onuokaibe by the Mburubu General Assembly as the Igwe elect of the Community.
Onuokaibe
There was a reported ceremony at the Nkanu East Council Headquarters Amagunze, where the National Chairman of the General Assembly, Arc. Chijioke Nwachukwu with his exco members and other members of the community presented Igwe-elect Ozo Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh.
Onuokaibe was reportedly said to have been unanimously selected by the people as Igwe-elect for the Mburubu Community.
Few days later, the Mburubu Council of Chiefs (Igwe’s Cabinet) countered the presentation insisting that nobody had been selected as traditional ruler since the death of His Majesty Igwe E.M.O. Ezeh. This was contained in a communique.
The next was presentation of another Igwe elect, this time by the President-General of Mburubu Town Union (MTU), Chief Emmanuel Edeh.
The President-General who said that the Igweship position rotates amongst the seven villages in Mburubu, noted that Umudara village was the first to produce the traditional ruler of the town and now it is the turn of Ihuegbe village to fill the vacancy.
The PG noted that they had to rely heavily on Constitution of the town in the choice of High Chief Linus Igbudu
However, it was the Secretary of the Council, this time, not the Chairman who received this team.
The Local Government Chairman has been accused by taking sides and trying to cause problems in the Community.
This may have given rise to a press statement which openly attacked the commissioner for Science and Technology Prince Lawrence Ezeh accusing him of sponsoring a faction in the brewing crisis.
Seen in many quarters as a bait, the commissioner in his wisdom ignored both the message and it’s messengers.
For the records, as a journalist in Enugu, my first encounter with Mburubu, a remote village in the State was during the commissioning of asphalt roads by Prince Ezeh, as a private businessman.
Such visits continued as the now commissioner built bridges, roads,  other basic amenities which were lacking in Mburubu.
A very peaceful man, the commissioner’s decision to ignore the deliberate attack must be commended. Golden silence. Well done commissioner for not joining issues.
The commissioner had also called privately, urging the media to handle the Mburubu issue with caution. He had virtually begged, warning that people could be bent on causing trouble.
Question begging for answers:
Does Mburubu have a constitution? If yes, what does it say about choosing a new traditional ruler. Is it rotational?
How should a new traditional ruler emerge? Is it by election, nomination or appointment?
In the absence of a traditional ruler, who runs the traditional institution in the community?
What are the processes of picking a new traditional ruler in Mburubu? Who presided over these processes?
Your Excellency, the answers to these questions will go a long way in resolving the Mburubu issue.
Your close monitoring is also needed. Not just because this is the Governor’s Local Government, but in the past we have seen attempts by some influential persons to turn the rules upside down and still get the support and endorsement of the government.
We have have trust and confidence that you will end this issue very soon.
