Former Commissioner for Agriculture in Enugu State Dr Eric Oluedo’s interest to run for House of Representatives under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may hit the rocks again just as it did 30 years ago.

The two-time commissioner in Enugu State who declared interest in the position narrated how he was robbed of the same position 30 years ago in the defunct National Republican Convention, NRC, in 1992.

History of failure may repeat itself again as heavy weights have also lined up for the same position.

Leading contestants for the Awgu/Oji River/Aninri Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general elections include Chief Anayo Onwuegbu a successful businessman and politician from Oji River.

Also very strong in the race is Chief Ben Alukwu, a former Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairman from Aninri.

Alukwu is a strong force in the politics of the zone and has a very bright chance of picking the PDP ticket.

Oluedo is also coming against another heavy weight from the same Oji-River in the person of Hon Gab Onuzuluike.

The former Oji-River Local Government Chairman and former Commissioner is strongly in the race and top in the list of favoured aspirants to pick the sole PDP ticket.

There is also the incumbent and four term member of the Hose of Reps Hon Toby Okechuukwu, among others.

Oluedo, a fine gentleman-politician may need to work very hard to beat the timbers and calibers in the race.
