Kidnappers yet to free Enugu High Chief days after N4m ransom was paid

There is fear and apprehension over the fate of kidapped High Chief and second in command (Onowu) to the traditional ruler of Umuisu Ugbawka Community, Nkanu East Local Government of Enugu State.

Chief Christian Cbukwu aka Unongo was reportedly picked up at the village market, Afor market Ugbawka more than a week ago.

He was whisked away with his vehicle which was later recoverd at a neighbouring Community, Akpawfu in the same Nkanu East LGA.

Reoprts say the Kidnappers earlier demanded for N15m as ransom for his release.

But negotiations between the kidnappers and family of the victim was said to have lingered until N4m was agreed.

The money was said to have been paid about five days before this reoprt yet the High Chief has not regained his freedom.

A close family source told EverydayNews that there is apprehension and fear over his safety.

“We have resorted to prayers waiting and hoping that he returns to his family. This is about from be days since the money was paid.
