Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA has sealed Tye construction site of the collapsed 2-storey which claimed the lige if a carpenter.
The owner of the building has also been arrested by police.
A carpenter lost his life when part of the building located along Ugwunwani road off corner stone bus stop caved-in at about 9:am on Tuesday, 9th July, 2024.
Eyewitness account said that the collapsed part of the building was a staircase which was not in the original plan of the building.
“The carpenter who’s from Cross River State was removing the planks used in the construction when the structure collapsed,” the witness said.
The site was consequently sealed by the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA.
A staff of the Agency who confirmed the action said they’ll look into their files to ensure developer has the necessary approval before the next line of action will be taken.
Also, a source at the Abakpa Division of Enugu Police Command confirmed the arrest and detention of the owner of the building.
“The man is with us,” the officer who doesn’t want his name in print said.
“He has been here since morning and the relatives of the deceased were also here.”
