The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the party’s Enugu State Executive Committee and reinstated Dr. Ben Nwoye as caretaker chairman, in what party insiders describe as a sweeping cleanup aimed at restoring discipline and unity in the Enugu chapter.

The decision, which marks Nwoye’s official return to lead the APC in Enugu, was taken during the party’s 179th NWC meeting held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, presided over by the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

In a statement signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, the party said the dissolution followed a “comprehensive review” of the situation in Enugu, where internal divisions and factional disputes had stifled the APC’s effectiveness in the state.

Following the shake-up, a seven-member Caretaker Committee was approved to take charge of party affairs in Enugu pending a fresh congress. The committee is to be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the party’s national headquarters.

The new Enugu APC Caretaker Committee is composed as follows:

Dr. Ben Nwoye – Chairman
H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze – Member
Comrade Peter Chime – Member
Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih – Member
Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor – Member
Engr. Emma Ekeh – Member
Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh – Secretary
Party sources told Jungle-Journalist.Com that the move is part of a broader effort by the NWC to “throw out bad eggs” and reenergize the APC machinery ahead of the 2026 general elections.

During the same meeting, the NWC also deliberated on the Ekiti State Governorship Aspirant Screening Exercise, clearing Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo to contest the primary election, while disqualifying Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi.

The committee further announced plans to inaugurate the APC National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, and to release a timetable for upcoming party congresses and constitutional amendment hearings before the end of October.

The NWC also confirmed that the APC Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council will be inaugurated in the coming days, signaling intensified preparations in the Southeast region.

Political observers say Nwoye’s return could mark a turning point for the APC in Enugu, a state where persistent internal conflict has long hindered the party’s electoral performance.

As one insider put it, “The party is finally cleaning house. With Nwoye back at the helm, APC in Enugu may find its direction again.”
